The short version
Two different safety nets, not one
KaryaYogi gives you two separate ways to protect your work, and they solve different problems. Optional cloud sync keeps the same data current across your devices. The one-tap local backup makes a single encrypted file that you hold yourself.
You do not have to choose one forever. Many officers run neither, some run both. Sync is a paid plan feature. The local backup is free and works with the SIM removed.

Optional cloud sync
Same data, more than one device
Cloud sync is the paid plan. It links your account to India-hosted storage and keeps your tools current across the phone in your pocket and the web workspace at my.karyayogi.in. The connection is encrypted and keyed to your account, so the sync layer moves your data without opening it up to anyone else.
Use sync when you switch between devices during the day, or when you want the web portal to reflect what you did on the phone an hour ago. It runs quietly in the background once turned on; it is not a manual step you have to remember.

One-tap local backup
A file you hold in your own hands
The local backup is a single tap that produces one encrypted file of your KaryaYogi data. That file is yours to place where you trust it: internal storage, an SD card, or your own cloud drive. No KaryaYogi account is needed, and it runs with the SIM removed.
Because you control where the file goes, you also control who can reach it. Keep it somewhere you can find again, and remember the details you set when you made it, since the file is encrypted and cannot be opened without them.

Moving to a new phone
Restore, whichever route you took
If you use sync, set up KaryaYogi on the new phone and sign in to the same account. Your synced data comes down from the India-hosted store, and the new device joins the others already in step.
If you use the local backup instead, install KaryaYogi on the new phone, open the backup file you saved, and restore from it. You will need the details you set when the file was created, because it is encrypted. Either way, plan the move before you wipe or hand back the old device, so nothing is stranded on it.

- With local backup: install, open your saved file, restore, supply your encryption details.
- Make a fresh local backup before a factory reset or an Emergency Reset wipe.
